CombiDiag at The Third China-Europe Alzheimer’s Disease Symposium

From 20 to 24 April 2026, CombiDiag Fellows and Principal Investigators took part in a series of activities in Beijing, China, combining scientific exchange, internal project discussions, and cultural experiences.

The central event of the visit was The Third China-Europe Alzheimer’s Disease Symposium, held from 20 to 22 April 2026. The symposium brought together researchers, clinicians, and experts from China and Europe to discuss current developments in Alzheimer’s disease research. The scientific programme covered a wide range of topics, including population-based research and public health, biomarkers and diagnostic tools, digital and technological approaches, biological mechanisms and treatments, as well as artificial intelligence and interdisciplinary collaboration in the field of Alzheimer’s disease. CombiDiag participants had the opportunity to present their work, attend inspiring talks, and engage in valuable scientific discussions with international colleagues. The symposium provided an excellent platform for exchange and further strengthened the links between European and Chinese research communities.

On 23 April, the CombiDiag consortium held an internal project day, bringing together Fellows and PIs to reflect on the current status of the network and to discuss the next steps for the final phase of the project. The meeting focused in particular on planning the upcoming project activities, coordinating milestones and deliverables, discussing future meetings, and defining priorities for the period leading up to the project’s conclusion next year. This dedicated internal exchange offered an important opportunity to align ongoing work, review progress across the network, and prepare for the successful completion of CombiDiag.

The visit concluded on 24 April with a cultural day in Beijing. Participants visited two of China’s most iconic historical landmarks, the Great Wall and the Forbidden City. The day provided an enjoyable opportunity for informal exchange and further strengthened the sense of community within the network, while also allowing participants to experience an important part of China’s cultural heritage.

Overall, the visit to Beijing was a highly rewarding experience for CombiDiag, combining outstanding scientific exchange, productive internal discussions, and memorable shared experiences.
