Fangya Xu is a Lecturer in Economics in the Department of Economics at the University of Reading, where she joined in August 2019. She previously held the position of Lecturer in Economics and Programme Leader at Plymouth Business School, University of Plymouth, coordinating undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and delivering economics teaching across a range of UK and international higher education institutions.
Her academic work sits at the intersection of international economics and environmental economics, with a broader focus on applied economic analysis. Her research explores how international trade shapes environmental outcomes, particularly through the pollution content of trade and the environmental consequences of trade liberalisation. In parallel, she has contributed to research on strategic persuasion in private experimentation, generating impactful scholarly outputs.Alongside her research, Fangya Xu has been actively involved in academic service, contributing to teaching quality assurance and research governance through institutional committees, reflecting a strong commitment to both education and research integrity.
