CombiDiag ROME Workshop

STANDARDIZATION OF ALZHEIMER’S PERIPHERAL BIOMARKERS IN THE COMBIDIAG PROJECT:
“TAKING CARE” IN THE EUROPEAN UNION

Sapienza University of Rome, June 16-19, 2025

As part of the European Horizon Marie S. Curie Doctoral Network project Peripheral Biomarker Based Combinatorial Early Diagnostics for dementia (CombiDiag; https://www.combidiag.eu/), Prof. Claudio Babiloni’s group presents the Workshop Standardization of Peripheral Biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease: ‘Taking Care’ in the European Union. The workshop will be held in Rooms A and B of the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology “V. Erspamer” (Building CU024) at Sapienza University of Rome from June 16 to 19, 2025. The Workshop program includes talks of researchers of Italian, French, German, Turkish, Spanish, Denmark, and UK academic and non-academic scientific centers on biomarker discovery, standardization, and harmonization across centers, as well as clinical qualification and business models in Alzheimer’s disease, from the perspectives of research and technological development, and key stakeholders, including pharmaceutical companies, public regulatory bodies, and patient advocates.

Three symposia will address topics of particular general interest, with free admission:

  • On Monday, June 16, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Classroom A, the symposium“Yoga as a healthy lifestyle: focus on breathing will be held. Yoga is a healthy lifestyle that can mitigate important risk factors for dementia in aging: sedentary lifestyle, chronic cardiovascular stress, high-calorie diet, and sleep-wake cycle disorders. The program ends with a practical experience of breathing yoga. [download the symposium concept (PDF, 280 KB)] [download the symposium flyer (PNG, 783 KB)]
  • On Wednesday, June 18, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Room A, there will be a symposium entitled Europe meets migrants. International migration poses a significant challenge to the global economy, social cohesion, and human rights in European societies. Experts in economics and neuroscience will explain the phenomenon. Finally, the Concentus Vocalis choir will perform the piece War and migrants: a journey through music and images of war, migration, and the hope for a better life. • On Thursday, June 19, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in Room B, the symposium Women in science of dementia biomarkers: successful stories will be held. Three renowned neuroscientists will talk about how they faced and overcame the “gender factor that can hinder women’s academic careers—an important source of inspiration for women and men involved in research.
